Pakistan banned youtube website on 22nd February 2008 due to number of different reasons. Along with Pakistan, china, Iran and Turkmenistan also banned youtube in September 2012.The reasons behind youtube being banned in Pakistan are as follows;

Firstly order was given to block youtube for containing dutch films.The reprinting of Muslim’s beloved MUHAMMAD(S.A.W) cartoons made Muslims very very angry as it was a criticism against Islam.This ban was lift on 26th Feb 2008 when the clips were removed.
Later on 20th may 2010, youtube was again banned by Pakistan as again there was criticism against Islam.This was intolerable. The political parties had sufficient discussion with media regarding the non-sense going on youtube. As the clips were removed from youtube, the ban was again lifted on 27th of may 2010.
On 17th of September 2013, Pakistan telecommunication authority orders to block youtube as clips were posted that was an insult of Muslims religion.Since that time youtube is still blocked in Pakistan. We can see that government is not at all interested in unblocking youtube in Pakistan as after 17th September’s block, no action has been taken by Pakistani government to unblock youtube website in the future.

Youtube is expected to be blocked in Pakistan for future years since American company refused to remove the clips that were posted to insult Muslims. Ban on youtube cannot be lifted until and unless there is a proper mechanism put in place permanently.
